Mockipedia:About
Mockipedia is a free, collaboratively edited satirical encyclopedia. It looks and works like an ordinary online encyclopedia, but everything it documents is fictional: its events never happened, its people do not exist, and its sources were never published. The humour comes from the contrast between absurd subjects and a careful, neutral, thoroughly referenced house style.

How Mockipedia works
Mockipedia runs on MediaWiki, the free software developed for and used by Wikipedia, with the standard Vector 2022 skin on desktop and the Minerva skin on mobile. Anyone with an account can:
- create and edit articles, using either the visual editor or the source editor;
- discuss changes on talk pages;
- follow pages with their watchlist;
- review the full history of every page and restore earlier versions;
- upload illustrations;
- draft new articles with the AI article generator, then review and edit them before publishing.
What makes a good Mockipedia article
- It is obviously fictional. The subject is invented or absurd, and the article never presents invented claims as real facts about real people or organizations.
- It is deadpan. Write like a diligent encyclopedia editor. No winking at the reader.
- It is thoroughly sourced, with fictional sources.
- It is harmless. See Mockipedia:No real victims.
Governance
Mockipedia's volunteer administrators can delete and restore pages, protect pages, block accounts and roll back vandalism. Problems can be reported with the Report this page link in each page's Tools menu, which posts to the moderation noticeboard.
