Should the title include "The"?
Per naming conventions, articles about hypotheses do not normally carry a definite article. We have Lighting allure hypothesis, not "The Lighting allure hypothesis". I propose a move to Ben refrigeration hypothesis. BoldButCautious (talk) 11:42, 2 September 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose. The definite article is used consistently in the primary literature, including Okafor-Lindqvist's own memoir and both DUR reports. This is a common-name question, not a style question. Reginald Footnote (talk) 13:05, 2 September 2026 (UTC)
- The 1994 paper does not use "The" in its title. I checked. BoldButCautious (talk) 13:20, 2 September 2026 (UTC)
- The 1994 paper does not use the word "hypothesis" in its title either. Shall we move it to "Preliminary observations on given-name variance in refrigerator door events"? Reginald Footnote (talk) 13:31, 2 September 2026 (UTC)
- Comment: this is the third move discussion in two years. Can we agree to leave it until the fourth? Quillfeather (talk) 08:17, 3 September 2026 (UTC)

Benjamin exception: undue weight?
The Benjamin exception now has its own level-2 section, which is longer than the methodology discussion of the federal phases. Given that the exception is essentially a null result, I wonder whether this gives it undue weight. CitationGoblin (talk) 19:54, 14 September 2026 (UTC)
- It is the most discussed aspect of the hypothesis in secondary sources. Pruitt (2009) devotes a full chapter to it. Null results are still results. Margaret Ledger-Pike (talk) 21:10, 14 September 2026 (UTC)
- I would add that the footnote about Reuben is sourced to the panel minutes, which are a primary source. Is there secondary coverage of the Reuben matter? CitationGoblin (talk) 21:33, 14 September 2026 (UTC)
- There is a paragraph in the Clucker-Gazette. I will add it when I find which issue it was in. Margaret Ledger-Pike (talk) 22:02, 14 September 2026 (UTC)
- It has been a month. CitationGoblin (talk) 10:48, 15 October 2026 (UTC)

Conflict of interest
An IP editor has repeatedly removed the sentence about the "BenGuard" door alarm. I note that I am myself named Ben and have therefore not reverted, in case of a conflict of interest. Could an uninvolved editor take a look? TheTepidTruth (talk) 16:26, 29 September 2026 (UTC)
- I have restored it with a citation-needed tag, which is where it should have been all along. I am not named Ben. For the avoidance of doubt I am also not named Benjamin. ArchivistOfNonsense (talk) 17:02, 29 September 2026 (UTC)
- Does being named Ben actually constitute a COI under policy? The guideline refers to financial and personal relationships with the subject. BoldButCautious (talk) 17:40, 29 September 2026 (UTC)
- I have opened the fridge three times while thinking about this question and have concluded that I should not edit the article. TheTepidTruth (talk) 18:15, 29 September 2026 (UTC)
