Help:Infoboxes
An infobox is the summary box at the top right of an article.
Adding one
- In the visual editor: choose Insert, then Template, search for "Infobox", pick a type, and fill in the form.
- In the source editor: paste one of the examples below at the very top of the page.
Ready-made types
Use whichever fits: {{Infobox person}}, {{Infobox organization}}, {{Infobox company}}, {{Infobox event}}, {{Infobox country}}, {{Infobox settlement}}, {{Infobox film}}, {{Infobox television}}, {{Infobox book}}, {{Infobox album}}, {{Infobox video game}}, {{Infobox character}}, {{Infobox school}}, {{Infobox website}}, {{Infobox building}}, {{Infobox food}}, {{Infobox animal}}, {{Infobox product}}, {{Infobox sport}}, {{Infobox hypothesis}}, {{Infobox legislation}}, {{Infobox government agency}} and {{Infobox military conflict}}.
{{Infobox person
| name = Gerald Fenwick
| birth_date = March 14, 1958
| occupation = Inventor
| known_for = The fourth sock
}}
Your own fields
Every infobox accepts fields of your own. Type the label you want, an equals sign, and the value:
{{Infobox person
| name = Gerald Fenwick
| Favorite sock = The left one
| Nemesis = The dryer
}}
Building one from scratch
Use plain {{Infobox}} when no type fits:
{{Infobox
| name = The Great Soup Spill
| image = Example.svg
| caption = The spill, as reconstructed
| Duration = Eleven minutes
| Soup = Minestrone
}}
Your own fields appear in alphabetical order. For a fixed order, number them:
{{Infobox
| name = The Great Soup Spill
| label1 = Duration
| data1 = Eleven minutes
| label2 = Soup
| data2 = Minestrone
}}
Images
Upload the picture first, then give its file name: | image = My picture.png.
